PHONE THE POPE were a Guildford-based five-piece who had a fast and furious career in the late 80's. They played everywhere from The Chiddingfold Club and The Red Lion in Milford to The Rock Garden, Dingwalls and The Mean Fiddler in London.
The band also recorded two EP's - the second one at Black Barn studios, produced by Robin Black.

The line-up was:
Gavin Thomas - vocals.
Kyd Douglas - Bass.
Richard Askew - Keyboards.
David Bates - Guitar.
Steve "Tinker" Bell - Drums.

The band came to an end in the early 90's, but the very happy memories remain.

There are six songs in the PHONE THE POPE archive vault, and you can listen to all of them here at the dedicated Soundcloud page.
