SINGING IN THE SUNSHINE – GUILDFORD’S ONE SUMMER’S DAY FESTIVAL RAISES THOUSANDS FOR LOCAL CHARITIES.

Guildford Town Centre played host to a glorious day of live music last Sunday 17th July, as the second annual One Summer's Day festival took to the stage in the courtyard garden of The Guildford Tup. Ten local acts performed, including Tom Butler, Telephone Road, young rising stars Me And The Moon & Claudia Stark, and seasoned favourites Newrising and The Charley Farley Sunday Four. Playing in perfect Sunday sunshine, these talented local musicians created a fabulous festival atmosphere, entertaining a sell-out Guildford crowd from noon until 9pm, and helping to raise a commendable £4,000 for the Royal Surrey County Hospital and Cancer Research UK. The event was organised and hosted by local musician and promoter Gavin Thomas.

The standard of musicianship was exceptional throughout the day, with a very varied set of styles and musical genres to keep the capacity crowd happy. Bretts Burgers were on hand with their barbecue throughout the day, and the perfect weather proved to be the cherry on a very happy cake.

Gavin told us: "What a wonderful day! After the success of last year's One Summer's Day festival, and its brother and sister events (One Winter's Night at The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in January, and One Spring Afternoon at the University of Surrey in May), we were aware that we had to raise the bar yet again, to create an even better festival, and to hopefully raise even more money for our charities."
Gavin concluded: "Everyone seems to have spent the whole day smiling, and I'm thrilled that it's been such a success. I'd like to thank everyone involved - my wonderful crew, our hosts at The Tup, all of our performers, the amazing audience, and our very generous sponsors (Kyan, Blue Tree Recruits and The Guide 2 Surrey) for making it all possible. We’ve now raised £13,000 for charity from these GT Live Session events, and I’m very proud of that. We've already started working on ideas for the next One Winter's Night, so hopefully we'll see you all there."
GT Live Sessions' production of One Winter's Night will take place at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on Saturday 14th January 2017. Further information will be available at www.gavinthomas.com/gtlivesessions

This year the One Summer's Day event is sponsored by the lovely people at KYAN and BLUE TREE RECRUITS, and our media partner is THE GOOD TIME GUIDE. It is once again a charity event, and this season we are raising money for Cancer Research UK, and the new Early Pregnancy Unit at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

Thanks to our wonderful sponsors we will be able to donate ALL of the money raised from ticket sales and collection buckets to our two great charities.
